Addiction Treatment Using Empire BlueCross BlueShield

When deciding to attend addiction treatment, one thing that you must consider is how you plan on paying for treatment. One way that many people choose to pay for treatment is through their health insurance. This is especially the case since the Affordable Care Act requires that health insurance companies provide just as much coverage for behavioral health issues such as mental health and substance use disorders as they do physical ailments.
By using health insurance to pay for drug treatment, you’re minimizing the amount of money that you’ll pay out-of-pocket. The exact ratio of how much money your insurance company will cover versus how much money you’ll need to pay out-of-pocket for the cost of your addiction treatment program depends on your individual health insurance plan though. Whether your insurance plan is in-network or out-of-network will also influence how much money you’ll end up paying for your addiction treatment program out-of-pocket.
One health insurance company that provides in-network and out-of-network coverage for behavioral health treatment is Empire BlueCross BlueShield. Learn more about Empire’s BlueCross BlueShield addiction treatment services here.

Empire BlueCross BlueShield Behavioral Health Provider Resources
To join the Empire BCBS network as a provider, all you have to do is fill out an online application. Once you do that, you can take advantage of the various different Empire BCBS behavioral health provider programs and resources.
Empire BCBS Behavioral Health Provider Collaboration Program
One Empire BCBS behavioral health provider program is its Provider Collaboration Program. This value-based payment opportunity recognizes large-volume behavioral health providers and addiction treatment centers that greatly service Empire BCBS members. By recognizing behavioral health and addiction treatment providers that provide great service for Empire BCBS, those looking to pay for such treatment programs as Empire BCBS members benefit.
As evidence of how effective this payment program is, the National Alliance Health Purchaser Group declared that the Empire BCBS behavioral health value-based payment program is an insurance healthcare plan leader. The recognition that the medical professionals and treatment facilities that service Empire BCBS members receive through this program is through reimbursement incentives.
There are three different categories of medical professionals and treatment facilities that can receive recognition under the Empire BCBS behavioral health provider collaboration program. They are the SUD/behavioral health facilities, behavioral health outpatient providers, and medical/behavioral health integration.
Ultimately, the Empire BCBS behavioral health value-based payment program leverages data and information to measure the quality of care that its members receive. Thus, the Empire BCBS Provider Collaboration Program benefits the insurance company’s members as much as the providers.
Empire BCBS Integrated Behavioral Healthcare
Behavioral health, in and of itself, includes treatment for mental health and substance use disorders. Integrated behavioral health treats physical health and mental and psychological health at the same time. Thus, integrated behavioral health care is holistic in nature. By this, we mean that it treats the mind, body, and spirit of a person.
Integrated behavioral healthcare is important because physical health and mental and spiritual health all affect one another. This is evident by the fact that 80% of people with a behavioral health disorder will visit a primary care provider at least once a year. Furthermore, many adults pass away from mental illness due to treatable medical conditions. Thus, it’s wise for a health insurance company like Empire BCBS to integrate all these different forms of healthcare.
Empire BCBS Behavioral Health Resources
Empire BlueCross BlueShield has a plethora of resources that its members can use to help them manage their addictions. For example, Empire BCBS provides its members with clinical guidelines on how to receive proper behavioral health diagnoses and treatments. Empire BCBS also provides tools and brochures that its members can use to rate and assess their individual and workplace addiction levels.
